First Born and More 2025 Annual Report: A Year of Growth and Impact

FY25 Program Data

First Born® and More is a home visiting model for any family expecting or raising young children that originated in New Mexico in 1997. The family-centered model supports caregivers in strengthening relationships, fostering community ties, and realizing their most valued goals. The model provides a strengths-based, culturally sensitive approach to create a positive and inclusive home visiting environment where caregivers and home visitors partner together to foster child development, safety, and school readiness.

The model has consistently supported maternal and child health outcomes and has experienced improvements over the past decade. In FY25, out of the 1,174 infants enrolled in First Born® and More, 97% were on track to receive full immunization by the age of two. This figure is noteworthy as it surpasses the state average. According to the New Mexico Children’s Cabinet Report Card, 73.0% of children in New Mexico aged 19-35 months were up to date with their vaccinations in 2021, NM Children’s Cabinet Report Card.
